Situated in the heart of the Haute Pyrenees, Le Luc is ideally placed as a base for enjoying a wide range of activities, suitable for all ages. Below is a list of some of the local acitvities available, for attractions, please select the appropriate page.
Although there are a considerable number of local activities, the house is also approximately 90 minutes drive to the Pyrenees and for those wishing to travel further a field can reach the Mediterranean in about 3 to 4 hours.

Aire Sur L'adour Road Sign

  • A wonderful outdoor pool hidden in the local area of the town offers a really cheap and pleasant way to cool off in a well maintained and monitored pool. Good fun for all.
Auch Road Sign

  • Easy enough to get to via major roads from Air Sur L’Adour the scenery and beautiful French villages that can be found via the easily navigable “backroads” are worth the trip. (See Bassoues)
  • Although a couple of hours away Auch is worth the visit to see its beautiful shops and streets.

  • Close to the end of August, as with many of the smaller towns and villages, Bassoues presents a local festival, which if you tie in with the wonderful restaurant makes a night out in itself.

  • The Fetes de Bayonne takes place between 3 – 7 August each year. There is a wonderful carnival atmosphere with bull runs, childrens entertainment and bull fights for example.
  • Perhaps combine it with a trip to Cap Breton northwards up the coast with its seemingly endless sandy beaches, the marina, the shops and restaurants.

  • Although quite a way from the house Biarritz is well known for its fine beaches and world-class surfing. Its sights are compactly arranged and worth a trip.

  • There is a warren of streets, squares and museums etc. in the city centre some of which are way-marked. A visit to one of the Office de Tourisme is certainly recommended in order to obtain guides, maps available in English before you commence any sight-seeing.

  • This famous town can be a little tacky on the outside, but look past this, find Le Grotte, all roads lead there eventually, and experience some amazing architecture and a religious experience that happens in few places outside Bethlehem and the Vatican.
  • A few miles out of Lourdes Pic Du Midi offers a rather unique chance to visit a observatory, which includes stunning views of the snow capped Pyrenees.   • In July there is a festival of music, dance and theatre.

  • Lac de Marciac on the road to Plaisance. Another beautiful leisure spot offering a variety of water activities, including water-skiing. A vast amount of money has been spent over the last few years developing the site which now offers excellent facilities for all ages.

  • An interesting city, about the size of Manchester, Toulouse has a whole range of local tourist activities, including boat rides, a rather unique train ride round the city and of course lots of shops.
  • During early October look out for the annual Toulouse les Orgues a two-week organ, orchestral, arts and opera festival.

  • This is a version of bullfighting that does not include the death of the bull. Many of the bulls fight for many years and sometimes even win!
  • Salsa Latin American weekend – usually the last weekend in July. Come and join in and enjoy the rhythm of the music and the excitement of the night market
